Uber Partners with Lucid and Nuro to Deploy 20,000 Robotaxis Across the U.S.
Uber has announced a strategic collaboration with electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid and autonomous vehicle company Nuro to develop and deploy more than 20,000 robotaxis over the next six years. The ride-hailing giant plans to launch the service in a major U.S. city as early as next year, marking a significant expansion of its self-driving ambitions.
Lucid confirmed a $300 million investment from Uber, while Nuro's president hinted at an even larger commitment, though specifics remain undisclosed. As part of the deal, Uber will secure a seat on Nuro's board of directors. The partnership will integrate Lucid's Gravity SUV with Nuro's autonomous technology, offering the vehicles through Uber's platform under fleet management by Uber or third-party operators.
